1 cup wild rice : 2 1/2 cups water

Note: If you’re buying grains in bulk you may be getting dirt or dust along with them from the bulk containers. To remove the dirt/dust, place the rice you’re getting ready to prepare in a bowl and cover with water. Mix it around with hands, the water will become murky. Using a fine mesh strainer, drain rice and rinse. Repeat steps, until the water is no longer dirty. Now you’re ready to cook.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup wild rice
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • pinch sea salt

Directions:

In a large pot, bring 2 1/2 cups fresh water to a boil. Add rice and a little salt. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer about 45 minutes, without stirring. Rice is done when all of the water has been absorbed and grains are chewy.
