1 cup brown rice : 2 cups water
Note: If you’re buying grains in bulk you may be getting dirt or dust along with them from the bulk containers. To remove any dirt/dust, place the brown rice you’re getting ready to prepare in a bowl and cover with water. Mix it around with hands, the water will become murky. Using a fine mesh strainer, drain rice and rinse. Repeat steps, until the water is no longer dirty. Now you’re ready to cook.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup brown rice
- 2 cups water
- pinch of sea salt
Directions:
In a medium sauce pot, bring 2 cups of salted water to a boil. Add rice and cover. Reduce heat and simmer 30-40 minutes without stirring. Rice is done when all of the water is absorbed. To test, tip pot to the side a bit to see if any water comes up. If not, then you can stir.
