Are We Raising Gen Rx? The Shocking Statistics on Kids and Chronic Disease

kids health statistics

By 2025 it’s expected that 8 out of 10 kids will have a chronic disease.

Let that sink in for a minute.

I dropped that bomb in my last post and it’s been playing on repeat in my head ever since.

Our current generation of kids is expected to be the first generation that is not expected to out pace their parents’ life expectancy.

Here. In America. Where we spend the MOST on healthcare.

It’s confusing… because we call it “health care.”

What that statement is really saying is that we spend the most managing disease (aka “sick care”).

Are We Raising Gen Rx?

There’ve been jokes and references calling this generation “Gen Rx” because they’re going to be so dependent on prescription drugs…

It’s a sad and scary thing to think this is our trajectory….

BUT it doesn’t have to be that way.

Just like when the threat was infectious disease, the heroes were the scientists and doctors who rolled up their sleeves and made incredible discoveries like antibiotics, vaccines — all things that extended life expectancy.

Now we’re dealing with a different beast.

And it’s screaming “what you’re doing isn’t working!!!!”

So it’s time to roll up our sleeves and figure out how we’re going to fight it.

Cause this isn’t one that a scientist, or doctor, or government or any other “hero” is going to get us out of.

This is a health revolution we have to spearhead ourselves.

WE are the heroes in this story.

We have to make ourselves, and our kids, more resilient.

If there’s any silver lining to what we’ve all been through these last 18+ months, dear God, let it be this.

Now you may be going, “Okaaaaayyyyyy, but what does that mean, exactly, and how much work are we talkin’ about here…”

You probably know this by now… I’m all about the basics, keeping it simple, and making “healthy” just what you do.

I’ve been working on something that’s going to help you do exactly that — for yourself, your kids, your whole family.

More soon….
